Controlling iTunes with global shortcuts

I migrated from Quicksilver to Launchbar a long time ago after alcor threatened to halt development. What would I do if the application got yanked out from under me? I wouldn’t know how to function! My solution was to find a similar application that seemed to stand on firm shareware legs and settled on Launchbar (over Butler).

The main functionality I miss from Quicksilver that wasn’t replaced in Launchbar is the ability to control iTunes from anywhere. Play/pause, next/last track, volume, etc. I finally got it in my head today to learn how to replace that functionality.

I found my solution in Sizzling Keys, a free product (with available pro upgrade for only $4.95) by Yellow Mug Software. Yellow Mug also makes several other popular Mac shareware options including FileChute and EasyBatchPhoto.

Thank you Yellow Mug for this simple and inexpensive solution to my problem! Now I can stick to my workflow without breaking tabbing over to iTunes and controlling it the way newbies do.

May people flock to your Web site and shower you with money!
